Even so, you will discover a vast number of people who have no reaction at all to bed bug bites meaning that an infestation could possibly get out of manage before any signs of bed bugs are noticed.

It is said that bed bugs were almost totally eradicated in the early 1940’s however they are reported to be back in prevalence since the late 1990’s. Though there is no exact reason how they resurfaced, but most of the blame lies in the greater focus on the control of other pests such as mosquitoes, which resulted in negligence in eradicating the bed bugs. Also use of second hand home furnishings is a dominant factor in the spread of the infestation, as bed bugs tend to dwell on furniture, bedding and clothes. But in modern times the biggest culprit could be bed bugs in hotels.

Imagine, even if one hotel room is infested with bed bugs and on an average 20 people sleep in that one room in a month, they become carriers of the bed bugs through their luggage and clothes to wherever they travel. This infestation could lead to flights, cinema halls, homes and where not. So one hotel room infested with bed bugs could be a major battleground for the spread of the pest all over the world. Also recent reports have focused on discovery of bed bugs in some upscale hotels worldwide and they also have led to quite a few lawsuits being filed against the hotel in question as they ended up infesting the guests home just due to a night stay in that respective hotel and they definitely don’t pay for that service.

Bed bugs have been named so because of the fact that the pest dwells in houses and especially wooden furnishings which gives them access to human body as their feed. Since they are known to be nocturnal by nature, they prefer to choose beds as their primary habitat as that is where they find people in the nights. Hence the name bed bug has been bestowed.

Houses can seem clean and tidy on the outside however they could be easily infested with bed bugs. The most common bed bugs signs are their waste that they leave behind on your couch, bedding and furnishings. They are hard to spot like other pests but not their droppings; they always leave behind their excreta. That should be your 1st sign. Also their bites are very different from other infestations. You can see a bite mark and tell it is caused by a bed bug as it doesn’t itch the moment they bite, it takes some time for you to feel the itch however you will already start seeing small lumps on the surface of the skin and they are usually in close proximity to the other bites. Also when they bite in your sleep as a reflex you would scratch at the surface and might end up squashing a few bugs, which leave bloodstain on the sheets. Keep an eye for such stains, if you see them that could be a sign of the infestation.

Bed bug bites causes a lot skin inflammation and rash that doesn’t just look unpleasant but also gets itchy however it is not known to be detrimental to health. However some people are known to get allergies due to bed bug bites. The rash typically shows a few hours after the bite happens and lasts usually for a day or two or sometimes a week in a few individual. The easiest known cure for bed bug rash is however just to apply any steroid cream that too id the burning is severe. Since in most cases it doesn’t harm anybody’s health you would seldom find people visiting doctors or taking medication for bed bugs rash.

Bed bugs removal is not so easy as it is a daunting task in itself if you go to do it yourself. They hide in places where you would not have a clear view of and it becomes difficult for you to identify where all they could be. They need not dwell on furniture only; they could be behind switchboards, under drawers in corners and almost any other place. The biggest problem with them is however they multiply quickly and by the time you realize your house has been  infested you would need a professional exterminator to do the task. Even after an exterminator does his job you can never be sure that your space is bug free as they are known to dwell in such complicated spaces that might not be covered in one pest control session. You might have to repeat the process again in a few days and also need to maintain constant vigilance that they don’t strike back. A smallest sign that they could have rebound should have you complete the entire extermination process again before they could actually multiply again.

Make sure to check the bedding as if a bed bug has just finished feeding and it gets squashed as you move as you sleep it's going to burst! Disgusting but true! Therefore, one other hints which gives you signs you have bed bugs is often blood smears on your sheets as you may also find the dead bug.

All in all the whole problem about bed bug is not their sting but the very fact that they are so easily infested everywhere and also the fact that they are not easily exterminated. It's not just about the itch or the rash that comes along with bed bugs but there is also a social stigma attached to the fact that your home is infested by bed bugs and your friends and social circle would avoid visiting your house so they don’t spread the same in their home. So it is not just the pains of having bed bugs, it is the fact that you don’t want others aware of the fact that you have a bed bug infestation at home. So the moment you see the most common bed bugs signs contact an exterminator and get rid of the infestation as soon as you can before its wide spread and infestation in your social life.
